Do you enjoy solving technical problems at large scale using a range of technologies like distributed systems, machine learning, data mining and SOA? Are you interested in solving real world customer problems by providing durable storage "in the cloud"? Elastic Block Store (EBS) delivers high performance virtualized storage as part of Amazon Web Services. As one of the largest block storage services in the world EBS is looking for passionate engineers to design and build fault tolerant, high performance storage systems, resource lifecycle orchestration workflows, a recommendation engine to effectively utilize the EBS fleet, a federated distributed system that improves availability, real-time data analytics systems, large fleet management systems, etc.
We are looking for an innovative engineering manager to own, build, and grow the core EBS Volume Control Plane team. You will be responsible for growing and leading the team that will design, develop, test, and operate key, scaleable systems. As a member of the EBS leadership team, you will have strong ownership over the design, implementation, and operation of a massive scale distributed system. You'll work closely with a tight, agile team that ships and you will be able to see the impact your work has on real customers. You'll also have the opportunity to work across a range of technologies, from Java-based distributed systems using sql and nosql datastores, workflow based massive distributed systems and customer face APIs.
The ideal candidate will be excited about the incredible opportunity cloud computing represents and will be passionate about building great teams that deliver high quality software. You will enjoy working in a fast paced environment that requires strong technical and business judgment and great communication skills.
